Day 3 Recap
Hola! We have made it through another day, though we are moving slower and slower! Ha! Camp will wear you out! Yesterday was a great day. It rained hardcore while we were in the lake (poor Dustin, Drew & Cody were sitting out and got soaked and cold!), but it was actually pretty cool. We have had some great bonding times as a youth group, especially our discussions after worship each night. Our youth are having a ball, but also expressing how much they want their life at home to look more like their life at camp.
You see, at camp we have one priority- to focus on Christ. The students have to go to bible study each morning. They have to go to worship each night. There is a set time for them to sit alone and spend time in the Word. Everyone around them is here to do the same thing. It really makes seeking Christ easy.... but camp is not reality. We come to camp to show students what can happen when they put Christ as a priority in their lives. Then we go home, praying they will choose to put Him as a priority in their everyday life. Our youth really want this to be a life change- but they need help. We want to challenge any of our Smiths Grove Baptist church family reading this to come alongside them and spur them on. Ask them how their time in the word is. Parents, remind them to set time aside to pray and read the bible. Help them make church a priority in their schedule. Explain and discuss the sermons with them.
Our kids are growing and learning so much this week. Please be praying for the truths they are learning to sink deep into their hearts and minds. Pray for their relationship as a group to bind strong and create real fellowship and encouragement. And pray for energy and alertness (for them and us! Ha!), because we have lots more to learn today! Have a great Saturday!

Day 2 Recap
Good morning from camp!
We did get a little rain again yesterday, but everyone was still able to do their POIs. We had kids zip lining, at pool games, playing frisbee golf, kayaking and doing messy games. Casey also came up and visited the kids- he got here just in time to stand in the heat and watch the youth play in the lake! Ha! And boy was it hot!!!
At worship last night, Brent (the camp pastor) talked about the "But Gods" of the bible. He reminded us that we were all lost, but God saved us. Often times, though, we instead question God's leading and say "but God!" The counselors all gave sentence testimonies saying "I was ____ but I AM _____"(one of the names for God in the bible is "I AM"). After worship we had our church time and did this same activity. It was a beautiful time to hear our youth acknowledge things they used to struggle with and how God has changed them. Aaron was the first to share saying he was bullied all the time, but God showed him that he is made in God's image and now it doesn't bother him. It brought tears to my eyes! I challenge all of you today to think about what you used to be and how God has saved you from it.
Today's theme is "Heir". Once you accept Christ you are now an heir with Christ. We inherit the acceptance of a Holy and Perfect God, security for eternity as well as the here and now, and significance. The youth are being challenged to truly know who they are in Christ. We have been made into a new Creation. Please be praying that our students will soak in these truths. That they will accept this new identity, and instead of finding who they are in what is popular right now that they would find who they are in the Word of God!
We hope you are all having a great week! Let us know if you need us.
